Half Day Banteay Srei and Ta Nei Temple Jeep Tour
Leave the busier Angkor circuit behind on this half day tour by military jeep to two temples chosen for their craftsmanship and quiet setting. Banteay Srei, 25 kilometres north of Angkor, was completed in 967 and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Built not by a king but by a royal courtier, it is prized for its pink sandstone carvings, widely considered among the finest and best-preserved in Khmer art. On the way, the open-air jeep passes local villages and rural scenery rarely seen from a standard tour vehicle. On the return leg, stop at Ta Nei, a Buddhist temple closed to visitors until 2010 and still one of the least-visited sites in the Angkor region. Surrounded by large trees and largely unrestored, it offers a rare chance to explore in near-solitude. An unhurried half day for travellers who want to see Angkor's quieter side.
