Gran Canaria excursion to Roque Nublo
The Roque Nublo, a mystical place used in ancient times for spiritual meetings of the Canary Islanders, the Canari. The hike begins on the east side of Roque Nublo with stunning views of the neighbouring island of Tenerife and Teide, 3718 m the highest mountain in Spain. We begin the day hiking by walking directly through a small forest of Canarian pines, as we look down on Tejeda and Artenara, the cave village. We continue walking along an ancient "Royal Road", along a variety of herbs and medicinal plants. When you reach the plateau 1750 m below the Roque Nublo, you will finally see this unique monolith, with its 68 meters up close. You can feel the absolute uniqueness of this place. After the short picnic, we continue the walk to finish in the town of Ayacata, where we make a short stop for a drink or visit the bathroom.
