Prague Freedom Walk WWII Communism and Velvet Revolution
This tour is not a standard checklist of Prague’s WWII and Communist-era sites. It follows one connected Czech story through the 20th century: occupation, exile, resistance, repression, 1968, student courage and the Velvet Revolution. The tour is led in English by a local Czech guide with personal links to the periods discussed, including WWII, Communism, 1968 and 1989, including lived experience during the final years of Communist rule. Having lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy, the guide understands how Czech history can look from outside. This helps explain the Czech perspective clearly to international travelers. Over 3.5 hours, you visit places where history was not abstract: the Winged Lion Memorial, Pinkas Synagogue, Old Town Square, Petschek Palace, Czech Radio, Resslova Street, the National Museum area and Národní třída. The aim is to give context, not just dates, and to show how WWII, Communism and 1989 connect in Czech memory.
