Tokyo Private Asakusa Walking Tour Senso ji Matcha and Mochi
Explore the history, traditions, and flavors of Old Tokyo on a private 2.5 hour Asakusa walking tour with a local guide. Begin at the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, where you can see the neighborhood and Tokyo Skytree from the observation terrace before heading to the iconic Kaminarimon, also known as Thunder Gate. Walk through Nakamise Shopping Street to Hozomon Gate and visit Senso-ji Temple. Continue through Nitemmon Gate to Asakusa Shrine. Learn the differences between Buddhism and Shinto, and see the Five-Story Pagoda. Then walk through retro Hanayashiki Street and Hoppy Street to experience another side of Asakusa beyond its best-known landmarks. At the final stop, guests may part in a hands-on matcha-making experience, and a mochi-pounding experience using a wooden mallet and mortar. Both experiences are optional and paid separately. The tour ends back at the meeting point. If requested, your guide will walk you to the nearest station or help you call a taxi.
