La Fortuna: Arenal Volcano Hike, Waterfall & Lunch at a Tico Farm
Let's venture into the foothills of Costa Rica's most famous active volcano. Trails circle its base, each with a different view, but one of the best is from El Silencio Viewpoint an easy to-moderate trail that puts you face to face with Arenal's cone shaped peak. Next, we head to the private La Fortuna Waterfall reserve a 70 meter drop reached via roughly 530 steps through native forest, where mountain springs feed the Fortuna River. From the viewpoint you can capture unforgettable photos, then cool off with a swim in its crystal clear waters. Most tours end here ours doesn't. We wrap up at an authentic Costa Rican farm for a traditional lunch (vegetarian and kids' options available) while you stroll among ducks, geese, peacocks, and horses, and keep an eye out for monkeys, toucans, and sloths. No buffet lines, no crowds just a home-style meal made with love.
