Shibuya: Local Food & Culture Walk in Sangenjaya District
Just two stops from Shibuya, Sangenjaya is a charming local neighborhood filled with retro bars, small izakayas, shrines, and the iconic Gorilla Building—away from the tourist crowds. The evening begins at a cozy izakaya on Suzuran Street, a nostalgic lantern-lit alley. Enjoy freshly grilled yakitori with your choice of beer, highball, or a non-alcoholic drink, and get a relaxed introduction to Japan’s izakaya culture. Next, stop by the quirky Gorilla Building, a popular local photo spot. If time allows, visit Taishido Hachiman Shrine, a peaceful shrine founded in the 17th century. For dinner, head to a lively izakaya on Chazawa Street to enjoy classic dishes such as karaage, sashimi, grilled fish, and edamame with an all-you-can-drink plan. After dinner, enjoy a panoramic night view from Carrot Tower’s free observation deck. The tour ends in the Sankaku District, a maze of narrow alleys filled with small bars.
