Xochimilco Family Day of the Dead Boat Tour and Skull Painting
More than a traditional trajinera ride, this family-friendly experience brings Día de Muertos to life through storytelling, creativity, and local culture. As you cruise through Xochimilco’s canals, your guide will explain the meaning behind this beloved Mexican tradition and share fascinating local legends. Adults and children with a paid child ticket will paint and decorate their own handcrafted Mexican cartonería skull to take home while enjoying traditional pan de muerto. Children under 4 booked with an infant ticket are welcome to join but will not receive a skull or painting materials. To include these items, please book a child ticket for them. You’ll also visit a small replica of the Island of the Dolls and a traditional chinampa to learn about Xochimilco’s ancestral agricultural system. During October, the visit includes a colorful cempasúchil field before the flowers are harvested for Día de Muertos.
