The Historic Great Flood of 1953 in Netherlands Private Tour
In this tour we explore the story of the big storm of 1953 that hit the South-West of the Netherlands. The dykes which had been neglected in WW2 broke and large parts were flooded. Almost 2000 people died and the damage was extensive. After the flood the Delta Works prevent a disaster from happening again. We visit the iconic places including the Flood Museum housed in the caissons that were used to close the biggest gap. 10-11 hours tour duration is travel time included.
