Reykjavik Viking Trails Self Guided City Exploration Game
A self-guided walking game through central Reykjavík told as a Viking-age tale with a sense of humour: a settler's saga unfolds on your phone stop by stop, and at each place a puzzle hidden in what you see moves the story on. Play at your own pace. Along the way the app tells you what you are passing: the rainbow street at Óðinstorg, the statue of Ingólfur Arnarson, the first settler, Austurvöllur square and the parliament that grew out of the Althing founded in 930, the Iðnó theatre by the pond, the bandstand in Hljómskálagarður park, the city's most talked-about museum, and the garden where Skúli Magnússon, the father of Reykjavík, set up the town's first workshops in the 1750s. Hints are built in; chat support answers 24/7. The route starts at Hallgrímskirkja and ends at Fógetagarður park in the old centre. About 3 km on easy ground, 90 to 120 minutes. Good for couples, friends and first-time visitors.
