Parador de Santiago de Compostela

About

If you're a lover of art and history, then don't miss your chance to join a guided tour of Parador Santiago de Compostela. Only two minutes walk from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the hotel is one of the most emblematic and important buildings in Santiago after the cathedral. Also known as the Hostal dos Reis Católicos, the building dates back to 1486 and boasts the fact of being the oldest continuously operating hotel in the world. Its original purpose, however, was as a hospital for religious pilgrims, and that's what the tour will shed further light on. Your tour will take you to royal halls, cloisters, rooms where the sick were treated, and the royal chapel. The Parador de Santiago de Compostela is also one of the best examples of the Spanish Plateresque style. Your tour will offer extra insight into all the stories associated with the Camino de Santiago and the history of the city.
