Although the trail features a vertical pitch of rock climbing, it does not require prior climbing experience. With the help of safety gear and our certified climbing guides, you can conquer this challenge and continue to the top of Rio’s famous Sugarloaf Mountain. The eastern side of Sugarloaf referred to as the Costão, allows for an enchanting hike up to the top of the mountain, providing you with spectacular views of the sea, forest, and mountain, as well as the lovely city of Niterói, all in one place. After enjoying the views at the top of the mountain, we will come down by cable car, which is also included in the price. The cable car will take us to Morro da Urca, the smaller mountain next to Sugar Loaf. From there, we will walk down the trail to get back to the Claudio Coutinho path.

The walk begins on Praia Vermelha (Red Beach) at Claudio Coutinho Cooper Track, into the small and famous neighborhood of Urca. The climb is made by headlands of rock and trails, with a small piece of a technical climb, which will be used all the necessary safety equipment. Do not worry, because our guides will help you in this adventure, you will get to know Rio from another angle in a Carioca way. After reach the top (396m) and relaxing a bit, it’s time to get the Cable car to the firs hill, Morro da Urca. From there we take a small and light track to the Red Beach. If you are traveling alone let us know that we can include you in an existing group.

The cable car ride to the top of the mountain is done in 2 stages: begin at the boarding station to Urca Mountain (224 meters) and then from Urca Mountain to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain (395 meters).
